Balanced Between Mind And Body Is A Wonderful Place To Live
September 30, 2007
In my experience I have found that most of us sort of reside in either our minds or in our bodies. Both are very intriguing places to focus our energy and provide very different vantage points. The people that I know who are basically in their heads display the following qualities. They are amazing analyzers of information and want to look at a subject from many different perspectives/angles. It is of utmost importance to gather as much information about the subject as possible and weigh out, all the so called facts, in as many combinations as they can think of. These ‘head’ people are very quick with their verbal responses to situations and usually win arguments. They are more guarded and are difficult to get a genuine read on. These people do not tend to be very grounded and are likely to hurt themselves physically on a regular basis. Little things like stubbed toes and paper cuts mostly.
On the other hand people who reside mainly in their bodies tend to have very different qualities. They are more likely to process information more slowly due to their need to feel their way. Often they need ‘to think things over’ before having a response, when in fact they are running it through their emotional guidance system first. These ‘heart’ people often wear their emotions on their sleeve so to speak, making them easy to read. Having a quick response in a verbal debate is nearly impossible and they usually are not interested in gathering facts…it tends to cloud the issue for them. These people tend to be fairly grounded and very aware of where they are in space.
Ideally we are a nice balanced combination of the two but from what I have seen it takes conscious effort to become that. Speaking for myself, I had to work pretty hard at getting into my head and thinking more quickly on my feet. I have witnessed the opposite as well. Those who really fight to bring themselves down out of their heads and into their hearts. Either way …it is sssssssooooooooo worth it. I am a much happier person having my feet firmly planted on the earth and yet my head in the heavens, as it were. I believe the reverse is true also. Balance is very freeing.
When we can view our world from a steady, solid base and be equipped to swiftly review the facts…life is, to me much sweeter and much more rich. We are never going to get it 100% right and we will never get it done so we might as well enjoy the journey in as balanced a way as possible.
